Deshonta Holmes

Deshonta Holmes, ed.d.
CEO/Educational Strategist

I’m widely known for my focus on college access, successful student outcomes, organizational growth and community service. I have spent the majority of my career with Lone Star College (LSC), gaining experience across multiple aspects of higher education, while also establishing myself as a respected leader and strategist.

In my current role, I deepen the college’s positive impact on the community by developing key partnerships with area ISDs and organizations. I develop innovative programs, provide strategic direction, and leads implementation teams to foster better high-school-to-college transitions and student retention, ensuring continued organizational development.

In over 13 years of service in LSC, my role has moved across the community college spectrum, including teaching, academic advising, and several leadership roles in admissions and outreach. I’ve recently completed a doctorate in educational leadership from Sam Houston State University. earned a Master of Science in Biology degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi.

I volunteer with Child Advocates, on the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, while also leading LSC-University Park’s participation as both contributor and host of the American Heart Association’s Northwest Harris County Heart Walk. My record of service also includes chair of the LSC Cultural Blueprint Committee in 2015, co-chair of the Women’s Conference for Students at LSC-North Harris in 2013, Advisory Board member for the Student African American Brotherhood in 2013, and member of the LSC Work Team for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Completion by Design Grant.

Outside of the office, I enjoy traveling, mentoring, and volunteering around the city of Houston.

I have over 20 years of Marketing and leadership experience having worked in multiple industries such as energy, oil and gas, technology, automotive service, restaurants and community-building initiatives.

I’ve built solid, long-lasting relationships with industry partners in North America which has provided me with a well-rounded view of forever changing marketing trends, consumer behavior and the fundamentals of relationship building. I have earned a reputation of successfully prioritizing customers’ needs and wants while balancing a company’s goals and objectives. Having a customer-centric mindset has been a key contributor to the longevity of my career in Marketing.

I am driven by clients' needs for strategic ideas, recommendations and support from a marketing and branding perspective. Building messaging strategy and managing creative execution are my passion. Working in a collaborative environment to outline the scope of every request and fulfilling deliverables are essential elements of managing successful projects from beginning to end. While I’ve established a proven track record for building customer relationships, the most rewarding outcome of this has been building trust and long-term growth for businesses. Marketing strategy and management is my passion and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow in this profession for many years to come.

I’m a native Houstonian, born and raised in Houston, TX. I have a 13-year daughter who is an absolute joy to raise and be around. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Marketing from Ouachita Baptist University located in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. I love to travel. I live for tackling my list of home improvement projects. I also love to hang out often with my friends and my huge family.

D'Andre P. Mayberry is a tenured communications professional with more than 10 years of experience in instructional design, graphic and web design, and training and development. With a keen eye for detail, prudent decision-making, and strong leadership skills, he has maintained and elevated the brand identity of numerous organizations, including:

  • New Georgia Project

  • Georgia’s Department of Public Health

  • Georgia's Opioid and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program

  • Cox Automotive

From the start, D’Andre has devoted both his personal and professional life to serving the needs of others. With his design career, he used his entrepreneurial skill and strong business acumen to acquire freelance design and branding clients one by one. Each of these projects demonstrated his passion for delivering superior products, his extensive leadership skills, and his unmatched work ethic – qualities that set him apart in every room and workplace he entered. He then moved on to larger organizations where he developed a powerful reputation for delivering exceptional design work under tight deadlines.

D’Andre not only understands the power of great design, he has also used his mastery of creative business concepts and his superior attention to detail to educate and inform using a variety of unique strategies. He developed patient ID cards with advanced technological security features that were distributed across 159 Georgia counties. He created a 24-course employee development program for the Georgia State Office of Vital Records. And, he designed a series of content specific courses for Cox Automotive. Regardless of the mission or the scope of the job, D'Andre always produced a high-quality product that guaranteed results and protected the brand.

D'Andre’s professional prowess and expertise are backed by his top-tier educational background. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Administration from Beulah Heights University. He then went on to earn his Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center before becoming a Georgia Certified Content Specialist.

D'Andre boasts a diverse skill set, with experience in education, brand awareness, product promotion, and creative strategy. He isn't just a great addition to a team; he's the secret weapon that drives that team to deliver at a higher level.
